Senior Tax Analyst (Sales & Use)

Summary

The Senior Tax Analyst (Sales & Use) assists management in ensuring compliance with all state and local tax laws, statutory notices, and orders. The role efficiently and accurately produces sales & use tax-related information and prepares reports for taxation authorities at the state, county, and local levels in a timely manner. In addition, the Senior Analyst assists in the advisement of management on the tax impact of various corporate strategies. Responsibilities may also include assisting with tangible personal property, income, and capital-based taxes when needed. 

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate and review the preparation of sales & use tax returns, use tax accruals, notifications, registrations, and other sales & use tax-related activities
  • Coordinate, review, and update analyses, schedules, reconciliations, and disclosures for sales and use tax reporting
  • Review items and transactions for tax implications
  • Assist with deliverables and correspondence with external sales and use tax audits
  • Coordinate and review the preparation and reconciliation of sales and use tax-related general ledger accounts
  • Assist with research of various sales & use tax issues and monitor changes in tax law
  • Analyze the sales & use tax implications of operational business transactions and processes
  • Assist with tax-planning strategies
  • Assist with identifying and defining tax processes and key user functions for tax-relevant systems
  • Support efforts to re-engineer business processes and improve reporting functions performed by the Tax department

What You’ll Need

  • BS/BA in Finance, Tax, Accounting, Business Administration or relevant field
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in the area of Sales and Use taxes in a multi-state environment
  • CPA or Certified Member of the Institute CMI [Preferred]
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or seated) more than half the time
  • Experience with Vertex or other sales and use tax determination software
  • Detail oriented with strong organization skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities
