Summary

The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the payroll administration. Primary duties include the preparation, posting, and reconciliation of payroll, financial, and tax accounts on a weekly basis. This role works in close collaboration with the Payroll Manager and serves as a subject matter expert in payroll processes, audits, and accounting. This role will also be the case manager for second level employee issues and inquiries in payroll related matters.

What You’ll Do

•    Update guidelines, standard operating procedures, and instructional materials
•    Contribute to departmental efforts to build cross-functional partnerships with other departments and to ensure operational efficiency
•    Support in national and international projects, producing business requirements, performing business system tests and technical improvements
•    Conduct the processing of payroll guaranteeing accurate end to end weekly disbursement of multi-state payroll, including garnishments, benefits and taxes consistent with federal and state laws
•    Identify, develop, and propose opportunities for business and process improvement
•    Perform ongoing monitoring and research of regulatory changes in federal, state, and local payroll, tax, and employment law
•    Identify the impact of tax changes and document findings, and initiate and implement changes to the payroll tax system through the software tracking system
•    Assist in identifying, developing, and coordinating the testing and implementation of electronic filing of payroll wage and tax data to meet specific jurisdiction specifications
•    Communicate changes in payroll tax laws and regulations
•    Serve as the subject matter expert and escalation point in payroll processes
•    Resolve escalations by providing root cause analysis and corrective action for complex and nonroutine situations for all levels of employees and management

•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
•    Strong functional knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws
•    Comprehensive knowledge of payroll procedures and payroll related tax filings
•    Ability to gather, analyze, and transform information and data from multiple sources and import into payroll data at scale
•    Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and adapt to changing priorities

Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience
•    Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources / Payroll or related field
•    3-5 years of experience in a related field
•    In lieu of degree, 5+ years of experience in related field will meet the education and related experience requirements listed above
•    2+ years of ADP WorkforceNow experience
•    CPP preferred
•    Experience processing payroll for 2000+ employees preferred
