Legal Specialist/Paralegal

Summary

The Legal Specialist/Paralegal will provide support to Lidl’s Legal team across a wide variety of legal matters and subjects. This position will perform matter intake, management and tracking, conduct legal research and monitoring, create and maintain company records, and provide litigation support. 

What You’ll Do

  • Manage intake and properly direct business units’ requests for legal advice and support
  • Prepare, analyze and evaluate legal documents, memoranda, reports, and/or filings
  • Prepare and conduct legal research and analysis, and recommend appropriate course of action and next steps
  • Perform fact checking, gather documents, research and respond to subpoenas and record requests and assist with investigative and discovery activities and processes
  • Monitor federal, state and local legislation and regulations affecting the company
  • Assist with corporate governance, licensing and regulatory core processes and related administrative duties including internal record maintenance and internal and external communication 
  • Develop and maintain materials, templates, presentations, and trainings outlining legal processes, standard procedures, system usage, and general team processes to enable consistent and efficient transactions
  • Report on key operational concerns for the legal team and encourage continued improvements by identifying opportunities and suggesting viable solutions including optimization of the legal team’s tools, technology and processes
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need

  • GED Diploma or Associate’s degree and related work experience 
  • Paralegal Certificate preferred
  • Food/retailer industry experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced open office environment
  • Strong organizational, analytical, issue-spotting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on rapport building and establishing partnerships
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently while maintaining attention to detail and commitment to deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
