Summary

The Specialist - Facilities (Field Service Technician) is proactive and responsive in maintaining and repairing company assets, executing daily maintenance checks, and taking preventative and reactive measures. The role keeps the working environment safe and productive for those working in stores. In addition, the Specialist maintains a scheduled maintenance route and daily work orders, with regular visits to stores in a regional geographic area.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform preventative and reactive maintenance tasks as assigned by both a checklist system and internal requests from the RDC
  • Execute electrical and plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installations
  • Perform painting, carpentry, and masonry work
  • Perform handyman work functions
  • Survey store sites daily and complete preventative maintenance checklist
  • Communicate to regional facilities managers site conditions and concerns
  • Communicate to store managers facilities points of completion 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 

  • Good understanding and ability to repair, install, and maintain HVAC, plumbing fundamentals and electrical systems and equipment
  • Ability to work with power tools, and perform carpentry, paint, and plastering work
  • Basic computer knowledge of Excel, Word, and ability to use an iPad
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • Experience working in an unsupervised setting and/or have supervisory experience
  • Ability to identify maintenance opportunities, create solutions, and make recommendations

 

Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience 

  • High school diploma/GED 
  • 5+ years of experience performing maintenance on commercial buildings
  • US Driver’s license 

 

Physical Job Requirements

  • Ability to work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced working environment, including the store(s), distribution center(s), warehouse(s), and/or corporate office(s) with the capability to switch job functions/roles quickly
  • Ability to work in situations that involve prolonged sitting, standing, walking, squatting and/or bending and twisting more than half the time
  • Ability to work in various conditions in temperatures around or below freezing, such as outdoor weather conditions or freezers
  • Ability to maneuver cases of product (lift, move, carry, slide, etc.) in excess of 50 lbs. and reach above head to heights greater than 10 inches frequently in accordance with safety regulations 
  • Must be able to handle all Lidl products, to include but not limited to, meat, poultry, alcohol products, and food products with known allergens, such as nuts
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery and/or equipment that requires the constant use of hands/fingers/wrists more than half the time 
  • Ability to spend more than half the time viewing computer monitors
  • Ability to handle any hazardous materials in an appropriate manner
  • Ability to identify and distinguish between colors more than half the time
