Customs Analyst

Lidl US is seeking an experienced Customs Analyst who will perform substantial parts of the standard processes within the Customs department that require a high attention to detail as well as multiple checks to ensure high quality. This role is responsible for classifying items correctly and identifying import requirements in order to ensure items are imported within regulations. The Senior Analyst is responsible for developing internal procedures in compliance with the customs and import regulations.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform HTS classification and determination of import requirements for different product categories
  • Conduct continuous analysis of the regulatory environment, with particular regard to trade tariffs/duties and trade restrictions/requirements
  • Maintain functional expertise in the customs regulations and customs broker practices
  • Oversee the successful self-filing of all entries
  • Understand acceptable methods of customs evaluation
  • Undertake complex projects without errors in deadline-driven environment
  • Plan, research, analyze, test, and liaise with internal and external teams to source relevant data
  • Contribute accurate and analyzed data to be updated in the department’s manuals,  reports, presentations, and project plans
  • Provide subject matter expertise for department and administration procedures
  • Serve as peer leader and guide the work of other team members on occasion
  • Ensure items are imported in compliance with customs regulations
  • Implement solutions and continual improvement of working efficiently

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • 2 - 4 years of experience in related field required
  • In lieu of degree, 6+  years of experience in a retail related field will meet the education requirements listed above
  • Experience in entry filing
  • Customs Broker License
  • Strong MS Office skills with Excel, Power Point, Word & Visio
  • Experience in ordering, replenishment, and international logistics
  • Familiarity with retail industry and relevant legal requirements
  • In depth knowledge of customs regulation, import processes, and classification
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to scrutinize data for research and accuracy
  • Ability to evaluate processes for optimization purposes
  • Ability to understand the objective and impact of projects on the business and provide solutions to issues that impact daily tasks
